Dear Students, Faculty and Staff:

As the fall semester comes to a close, I write to wish each of you a happy new year and to share some thoughts and reflections from my first nine months serving as Chancellor.

As an early leader of the movement among the nation’s universities to actively reduce our energy footprint, UIC has once again taken the lead as the first of a group of universities to sign Second Nature’s newly integrated Climate Commitment expanded action plan. Dear Faculty, Staff and Students:

It is my pleasure to announce that I have named Dr. Susan Poser as Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs effective Feb. 1, pending approval by the University of Illinois Board of Trustees.

Dr. Poser, a scholar in legal ethics and tort law who has won teaching awards and collaborated with faculty in interdisciplinary research and scholarship, will serve as UIC’s chief academic and chief operating officer and senior advisor to me on matters of academic policy, strategic direction, enrollment management and resource planning. Read more…


President, chancellor discuss university’s future at town hall

President Timothy Killeen and Chancellor Michael Amiridis spoke to a UIC audience Monday about the future of the University of Illinois.

“Both Tim and I are relatively new in our jobs,” Amiridis said at a strategic town hall in Student Center East, one of a series held on each of the three university campuses. “It’s important that we set up the priorities and set directions in which we move.” Read more…


Nebraska law school dean named UIC provost

Dr. Susan Poser, dean and professor of law at the University of Nebraska College of Law, has been named provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs at UIC. Her appointment becomes effective Feb. 1, pending approval by the University of Illinois Board of Trustees.

“Dr. Poser’s experience at a Carnegie 1 research institution and her understanding and passion for both student and faculty priorities will help us move UIC forward as a premier public urban research university,” said UIC Chancellor Michael Amiridis. Read more…
