Campus Message 02.01.17
Dear Students, Faculty and Staff,
Every ten years the University of Illinois at Chicago is evaluated by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) to ascertain that our academic programs continue to meet standards set by the U.S. Department of Education. The HLC is the accrediting body for institutions of higher education in the Midwest, and this spring UIC will reaffirm its accreditation. As part of the HLC’s comprehensive evaluation process, a team of eight peer reviewers will visit UIC on April 24-25, 2017.
To ensure that all members of the UIC community will be able to participate in the reaffirmation process, there will be several opportunities to share comments and feedback with the reviewers:
- Public comment. Anyone can submit a public comment about UIC online at http://hlcommission.org/comment until March 24, 2017. The peer reviewers will read all of the comments that are submitted before their visit.
- Student survey. On February 6, 2017, all UIC students will be invited to participate in a student opinion survey that will be open for 10 days. The aggregated results will provide the reviewers with more information about the student experience at UIC.
- Open forums. During the April site visit, there will be three forums that will be open to all students, faculty, and staff members. Information about these forums will be made available after the schedule for the site visit is confirmed.
UIC’s reaccreditation process is managed by the Office of the Vice Provost for Planning and Programs. If you have questions or would like additional information, please contact Saul Weiner at email@example.com.
I look forward to working with members of the HLC evaluation team to showcase the excellence of UIC and our mission of teaching, research, public service and health care.
