Dear Colleagues,

I write to announce the appointment of Michael M. Landek, currently Executive Associate Vice Chancellor for Administrative Services, to serve as the Interim Vice Chancellor for Administrative Services, pending approval by the Board of Trustees and effective April 1, 2017. Mike Landek will succeed Mark Donovan, who announced his retirement from the University after over 33 years of distinction and dedicated service. 

Mike Landek earned a Masters in Educational Administration and a PhD in Educational Policy from UIC. He is a veteran administrator with over 35 years of experience at UIC, with the last three years in the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Administrative Services. During his tenure at UIC, Mike has managed complex operations through his experiences in the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and his involvement in the expansion of the UIC Pavilion, South Campus redevelopment and the construction of the UIC Forum and Student Recreational Facility. Mike has also provided leadership during a time of transition, while serving as Interim Vice Chancellor for External Affairs. In his role as Executive Associate Vice Chancellor for Administrative Services, Mike has launched several cost-saving and efficiency measures, such as the development of a 24/7 Call Center, formation of an Administrative Services Information Technology Department and reorganizing Campus Grounds operations. 

Mike Landek will serve in this interim capacity until a permanent Vice Chancellor for Administrative Services has been identified and assumes the role. Please join me in welcoming Mike to his new role.
