Campus Message 06.06.16
I hope you are already looking forward as I am to welcoming our new incoming students to campus in August. In order to promote the success and first year experience of the Class of 2020, we are planning the eleventh annual UIC Convocation to kick-off the 2016-2017 academic year. The UIC Convocation marks the official beginning of our new students’ entry into our academic community. I ask that you save the date below on your calendar and I encourage all of you to be a part of this important event to welcome new students.
The schedule is as follows:
Sunday, August 21, 2016
All new students, their families, as well as university faculty and staff are invited to attend. The UIC Convocation will be followed immediately by the Chancellor’s New Student Welcome Picnic during which new students and their families will join us for food, games, prizes, entertainment, and an opportunity to reconnect with their summer orientation leader, faculty, and academic college staff.
The involvement of UIC faculty and staff is critical to the success of new students who have chosen to invest their future with us. Your presence at the UIC Convocation will help to warmly welcome our new students and their families, and reinforce their decision to become a part of the UIC family. Last year, the Convocation was attended by a record 2,013 new students and 2,726 guests.
Incoming students should know we value their decision to attend UIC, and your presence is key to this goal. Please expect a formal invitation in early August, and I look forward to seeing you.
