Campus Message 06.28.16

Dear Colleagues,

Each fall we welcome thousands of prospective students, families, friends, alumni, and community members to UIC Open House. This year’s Open House will take place on Saturday, September 24, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Once again, I encourage you to join us and take this opportunity to showcase your college, department, or program that day. We expect over 10,000 guests to join us at this annual event.

UIC Open House is an important part of the university's continuing efforts to advance our outreach activities and highlight the opportunities we provide as Chicago’s public research university. The UIC Open House agenda will provide our guests with a greater perspective and appreciation for the university's widely diverse academic programs, research enterprise, cultural activities, and support services. Your involvement is important for us to be able to deliver the most comprehensive look at the opportunities, both academic and cultural, available to the UIC community. There are a variety of options through which your unit can help visitors learn more about UIC's majors and programs, explore student life and housing, attend academic sessions featuring UIC faculty, and tour the grounds.

You are encouraged therefore to send a representative to staff a table at the UIC Expo component of the Open House, which will be held at the UIC Forum from 8 a.m. to noon. You may plan a lecture, an information session, or demonstration pertinent to an academic area of study, and/or feature a space, research project, or other activity at multiple points during the day.

A call for participation has been extended to all colleges and many of you have already signed up through unit admissions liaisons. In order to get the maximum benefit for your program in the Open House media and communications campaign that launches July 7, complete the Open House Programming Form as soon as possible. If your unit wishes to participate in the UIC Expo in the Forum and hasn't yet registered, please complete the Open House UIC Expo Form as soon as possible.

Should you have questions about the open house please contact Maria Garcia, Associate Director of Special Events for Academic and Enrollment Services, at 312-413-4081/ or Kevin Browne, Vice Provost for Academic and Enrollment Services at 312-413-3471 /

As key stakeholders in the success and growth of UIC, I encourage the participation of your units in the program. Thank you for your contribution in helping UIC to advance its mission.
