Campus Message 11.10.16

Dear Faculty, Staff, and Students,

We have all endured a long and contentious election season and on Tuesday we democratically elected a new president. As with every election, it is impossible to know immediately what the results will mean in the long run or the type of change that comes with the new presidency. We will learn more about this over the next few months and we will be prepared as an institution to embrace new opportunities and face new challenges.

Meanwhile, there are some things that we do know. We know that UIC is an academic community focused on its original mission and core values of access and inclusion; we know that UIC is dedicated to the well-being, safety and success of our students; and we know that UIC’s community members respect and protect each other’s rights even when they strongly disagree on certain issues. And by remaining focused on these principles we demonstrate to the rest of the world that we can retain our values and our community while we continue to advance as a society.

Sincerely,

Michael D. Amiridis
Chancellor
